Vakaros acquires Sailmon and strengthens its position in navigation instrumentation

Vakaros, specialist in navigation instruments for sailboats, announces the acquisition of Sailmon, a Dutch supplier renowned for its sailing performance technologies. This operation enables Vakaros to broaden its offering and strengthen its presence in the marine electronics market.

A strategic acquisition for Vakaros

Founded in 2018 by Jake Keilman and Todd Wilson, Vakaros has rapidly established itself in the field of navigation instruments for small sailboats and regattas. Its flagship products, the Atlas 2 and Atlas Edge, are widely used in sailing classes ranging from TP52 to Optimist. The company has also made a name for itself with RaceSense, a revolutionary system for automating starting decisions in regattas.

The acquisition of Sailmon is part of a strategy of expansion and diversification for Vakaros, which aims to offer even more advanced solutions to sailors of all levels.

Sailmon: recognized expertise in navigation instruments

Founded in 2014 in the Netherlands by Kalle Coster, Enno Romkema and Peter Houtzagers, Sailmon initially focused on superyachts and high-end racing yachts before expanding its offering to all types of sailboats. The company has made a name for itself with its data processors and online platform, enabling in-depth analysis of performance on the water.

With this acquisition, users of Sailmon products will benefit from ongoing support, and North Technology Group, Sailmon's former owner, will continue to support the Sailmon ELEMENT ranges under the Synapse brand, a subsidiary of Future Fibres.

A strong commitment to innovation and customer service

Jake Keilman, co-founder of Vakaros, emphasized the importance of this acquisition: "We've worked alongside the brand for years and witnessed their innovations on the water. Sailmon's customers are passionate sailors, and we are committed to fully supporting them in the future."

This merger will enable Vakaros to capitalize on Sailmon's technological advances and offer yachtsmen and racers ever more precise and high-performance navigation tools. With this acquisition, Vakaros has taken another step forward in its ambition to become a key player in marine electronics.
