Optimized infrastructure for overhauling life-support equipment

Previously based at the Coopérative Maritime in Lorient, Ouest Sécurité Marine has doubled its working area from 400 m² to accommodate several liferafts simultaneously. The new station will be equipped with an overhead crane and a working pit, facilitating equipment overhaul and maintenance.
The workshop will be able to accommodate two 150-person liferafts, i.e. structures 19 metres long by 6 metres wide. This increased capacity will enable us to better meet the requirements of maritime professionals, from shipowners to passenger transporters, not forgetting skippers involved in ocean racing.
An integrated training center for professionals and yachtsmen

In addition to equipment overhaul, Ouest Sécurité Marine is developing a maritime safety training program. A training room for up to 20 people will be built on the new premises. Aimed at shipping professionals, merchant navy crews, shipowners and yachtsmen, this initiative reinforces the company's commitment to prevention and safety at sea.
In partnership with shipyards such as Piriou in Concarneau, this structure will enable us to organize training courses on evacuation systems, particularly for the crews of launches destined for export.
An environmentally-friendly project

As part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Ouest Sécurité Marine has opted for renovation rather than new construction, thereby reducing its carbon footprint. The company is implementing several eco-responsible initiatives:
-
Rainwater harvesting for various uses such as cleaning and sanitary facilities.
-
Installation of solar panels and a heat pump to heat the site.
-
Optimization of work processes to minimize waste and improve energy efficiency.
"Renovation means releasing seven times less CO2 than new construction, so we want to get it right, says Paul Asquier, the company's Managing Director.
A move scheduled for late 2025
Work, already underway, is scheduled for completion by October 2025. Move-in to the new premises is scheduled for the end of the year, with official commissioning on January 1, 2026.
Ouest Sécurité Marine is also planning to increase its workforce, with the recruitment of two new employees as soon as the site opens. This ambitious project confirms the company's position as a benchmark in maritime safety, and reinforces the influence of the port of Lorient as a strategic hub for maritime activities in France.
