Seldén invests in a carbon rig production unit

Le Poiré-sur-Vie-based manufacturer Seldén strengthens its industrial presence with the inauguration of a production unit dedicated to carbon masts. This 1,500 m² extension is designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance composite rigs.

A strategic extension to meet the needs of a growing market

To accommodate this new production line, the Le Poiré-sur-Vie plant was expanded by 1,500 m², bringing the total surface area to 4,800 m². This expansion enables Seldén to diversify its product range, now offering carbon masts, booms and spinnaker poles, in addition to the aluminum products already manufactured on site.

The filament winding process at the heart of production

Seldén carbon masts are manufactured using the filament winding process. This technique involves winding resin-impregnated carbon fibers around a rotating mandrel, ensuring even fiber distribution and optimum mast strength. Once winding is complete, the mast is pressure-cured in an autoclave to complete the polymerization of the resin. This process is particularly well-suited to the production of hollow revolutionary parts, such as sailboat masts.

Investment in a state-of-the-art paint booth

To guarantee a high-quality finish, Seldén has also invested in a modern 18-meter-long paint booth. This facility enables protective and aesthetic coatings to be applied to carbon masts, meeting the demands of boatyards and yachtsmen for durability and appearance.

A response to the growing demand for carbon rigs

The extension of the factory and the integration of carbon mast production bear witness to Seldén's determination to adapt to changes in the nautical market. Carbon rigs offer significant advantages, particularly in terms of lightness and performance, meeting the expectations of sailors looking for high-performance equipment.
