An initial passion for design
From an early age, Grégoire Bettens was fascinated by automotive design. This fascination led him to study the field, with the ambition of designing cars.
"After graduating from a school of automotive design and prototyping, my love for creating led me to specialize in automotive interiors, training in CAP Sellerie-Garnissage in Soissons."
However, in the course of his apprenticeship, he discovered the world of leather and saddlery, a revelation that would steer his career towards new horizons.
"After obtaining my CAP in saddlery and upholstery, I was immediately approached by a company in the Lille region to set up a saddlery and upholstery workshop. During this period, I had the opportunity to work for a major French luxury house, rubbing shoulders with experts in the field."
"This experience enriched my expertise in saddlery and sheathing, and gave me an appreciation of the world of fine craftsmanship. These experiences inspired me to launch Maison Bettens, where I apply my passion to create one-of-a-kind pieces."
The creation of Maison Bettens
Armed with his expertise, Grégoire decided in November 2024 to found Maison Bettens in Armentières. The company specializes in the manufacture, installation and repair of general saddlery, with a particular focus on high-end nautical saddlery.
Dedicated expertise in top-of-the-range nautical saddlery
Maison Bettens offers a range of services tailored to the needs of demanding boat owners. The workshop creates custom seating, awnings and winter covers, using materials such as fabric, leather, imitation leather and alcantara to guarantee durability and comfort.
"Before starting the reproduction, a thorough analysis of the original upholstery is essential. Each element is carefully inspected to assess its condition, determine the materials used and identify any areas of wear or deterioration. The precise dimensions of the parts are taken into account to ensure a faithful reproduction in line with requirements."
"If the original upholstery is not available, detailed research is carried out on the boat or aircraft model to precisely recreate the interior's specific features. In the case of a customized creation, it's the customer who imposes his design, guiding us in the choice of materials and finishes to meet his aesthetic and functional expectations."
