Zim Sailing, new ILCA-approved builder, ex-Laser

The International Laser Class Association (ILCA) has announced the official approval of Zim Sailing as a legal class boat builder in the United States. After a rigorous certification process, conducted in collaboration with ILCA and World Sailing technical departments, Zim Sailing joins the list of nine manufacturers approved to produce and sell ILCA boats and parts in compliance with international regulations.

Recognition boosts local production

Based in Bristol, Rhode Island, Zim Sailing is the largest manufacturer of dinghies in North America. Its recent certification now enables the company to produce ILCA boats fully compliant with the standards required by World Sailing, and to distribute them to dealers and consumers. This approval strengthens the local offering for North American competitors, while guaranteeing full compliance with international technical specifications.

George Yioulos, representing Zim Sailing, was delighted with this step forward:
"We are absolutely delighted to be approved as an ILCA builder in North America. This certification process, while rigorous, has benefited from exceptional technical support from ILCA and World Sailing. We look forward to working with local distributors to further develop sailing. "

A commemorative series to mark the launch

To celebrate the start of production, Zim Sailing is introducing a special "Founders' Series". The first 50 units produced will bear a commemorative plaque alongside the official ILCA and World Sailing designations, highlighting this important milestone in the company's history.

Zim Sailing's expertise at the service of the community

Zim Sailing is no newcomer to the world of sailing. With a 3,700 m² production plant, the company also manufactures dinghies such as 420s, FJs and ISCAs. With a network of over 50 dealers across North America, Zim has established itself as a key player, supplying fleets for college and high school sailing championships in the USA.

In addition, Zim Sailing actively participates in over 40 major events each year, offering a dedicated charter fleet and providing logistical and technical support for competitions. Approval as an ILCA builder only extends its role within the yachting community.
