A strategic partnership to develop yachting in Spain
Freedom Boat Club continues its European expansion by joining forces with Touron, an iconic Spanish boating company founded over sixty years ago. The partnership will see the establishment of two new bases around Madrid, a region where demand for water sports activities is growing rapidly.
Thanks to this alliance, Freedom Boat Club benefits from Touron's local expertise to meet the specific needs of the Spanish market. Arturo Gutierrez, Managing Director of Freedom Boat Club EMEA, commented: " Touron's wealth of experience in the yachting sector is an undeniable asset in supporting our ambition to democratize access to boating in Spain. "
San Juan and Entrepeñas: two lakes at the heart of expansion
The first two sites, San Juan and Entrepeñas, offer ideal conditions for pleasure boating. Lake San Juan, close to Madrid, is renowned for its picturesque scenery and numerous water sports activities. Meanwhile, Lake Entrepeñas, often referred to as the "Sea of Castile", boasts clear waters and an unspoilt environment.
Both destinations promise to attract families and water sports enthusiasts, responding to a growing demand for outdoor recreation in the region.
An innovative membership model to attract Madrid's yachtsmen
With its flexible membership system, the Freedom Boat Club gives its members access to a varied fleet of boats without the constraints of maintenance or mooring. This formula, already well established in other European regions, is aimed at an urban clientele seeking to discover boating without having to invest in the purchase of a boat.
By integrating this offer in Madrid, Touron hopes to respond to a twofold expectation: to offer an accessible navigation experience and to attract a new generation of enthusiasts.
Touron's ambitions to diversify its activities
For Touron, this partnership marks an important step in the diversification of its portfolio. Until now specialized in the distribution of marine engines and equipment, the company now wishes to offer services focused on the user experience. Fernando Giquel, General Manager of the Commercial Division, commented: " This project is an opportunity to bring the joys of boating to a wider public, while consolidating our leading position in Spain. "
Sustained European growth for Freedom Boat Club
With over thirty-five bases in operation and seventeen franchise partners in Europe, Freedom Boat Club continues to expand at a steady pace. The arrival of two new bases in the Madrid region confirms the growing interest in shared boating, a model that appeals to novices and experienced boaters alike.
The launch of these sites, scheduled for the 2026 and 2027 sailing seasons, reflects a shared desire to enhance the accessibility and diversity of sailing experiences.
