Reorganization at Webasto: Johann Strohner appointed Director of Restructuring

Faced with complex economic conditions, particularly in the marine and automotive divisions, the Webasto Group embarks on a major restructuring. As of January 15, 2025, Johann Strohner, a specialist in corporate reorganization, joins the Board of Directors as Director of Restructuring. This often involves streamlining product ranges, cutting costs and reorganizing the company internally, which may have a social impact.

A strategic appointment for Webasto

Webasto SE, based in Stockdorf, Germany, has announced the arrival of Johann Strohner to strengthen its management board. Currently Managing Director of consulting firm Alvarez and Marsal Holdings, Strohner brings with him 25 years' experience in restructuring companies in difficulty.

As Director of Restructuring, he will steer the entire internal reorganization process. This key role aims to adapt the company's production and development capacities to a constantly changing economic situation, while streamlining its organization and refining its product range.

An industry under pressure

According to Holger Engelmann, Chairman of the Webasto SE Board of Management, the initial reorganization efforts, initiated at the beginning of 2024 as part of an optimization program, were not sufficient to counter the worsening economic conditions in the second half of the year.

" We were on the right track with the optimization program launched in early 2024." explains Engelmann.

"However, general conditions in the industry have continued to deteriorate considerably for us. To secure the company's future, we need to go further in adapting our capabilities and organization."

Restructuring for a sustainable future

The restructuring process is designed to strengthen Webasto's resilience in a market under multiple pressures: economic uncertainties, rapid technological developments and transitions towards more sustainable solutions.

With the integration of Johann Strohner, a recognized expert in restructuring, Webasto is committed to pursuing optimization initiatives while tackling the structural challenges of its organization.

A strategy focused on efficiency

The Webasto Group remains determined to pursue its activities while adapting to new market realities. Through this restructuring, the company aims to :

  • Reduce industrial overcapacity.
  • Streamline internal organization.
  • Optimize your product portfolio to meet market trends.

The collaboration between Johann Strohner and the management team marks a new stage in the company's transformation, strengthening its ability to navigate in an uncertain economic environment.
