An unprecedented vote for the French Sailing Federation
For the first time, the election of the president of the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile) has been opened up to affiliated clubs and establishments. This change, introduced by the law of March 2, 2022, marks a turning point in the governance of sports in France. With a participation rate of 62.08% and 550 voters out of 886 registered, this mobilization illustrates the interest of local players in the federation's strategic orientations.
Reinforced targets for 2024-2028
Re-elected for a four-year term, Jean-Luc Denéchau has announced an ambitious program. " We need to simplify our organizations to better support clubs and their volunteers "he declared. The President intends to modernize training tools and promote sailing that is accessible to all, particularly among young people and those who are far removed from sporting activities.
The environment is also a priority, with the aim of developing sustainable sailing. All the FFVoile's actions must integrate ecological issues to minimize the impact of nautical activities on marine ecosystems.
Renewed governance
Alongside Jean-Luc Denéchau, a partially renewed 42-member Board of Directors will take part in strategic decisions. These teams will have to ensure that the promised reforms are implemented, while maintaining the competitiveness of French regattas and ocean racing, which remain showcases of national know-how.
Jean-Luc Denéchau: a committed and experienced president
Born in 1962, Jean-Luc Denéchau has devoted his life to sailing, first as a practitioner, then as a volunteer and referee. He rose through the ranks to become president of the Île-de-France league, before being elected to positions of governance at national and international level, notably with World Sailing.
In parallel with his commitment to sailing, he has pursued an entrepreneurial career, giving him a strategic and pragmatic vision. He describes his years as President of the FFVoile as " exciting and full of prospects ".
Major challenges for clubs and members
Jean-Luc Denéchau's second term of office will have to meet the high expectations of the clubs. Priorities include logistical and financial support for small structures, which are often in difficulty, and the organization of federative events. Digitizing services and training courses is also a key factor in attracting new audiences.
