The Metstrade show, the global benchmark for yachting equipment, systems and materials, closed its 36th edition with impressive figures. From November 19 to 21, 2024, RAI Amsterdam welcomed nearly 1,600 exhibitors spread over 12 halls 31,824 visits, an increase of 10% over 2023. This record confirms the event's central position in the global nautical landscape.
Record attendance reflects industry boom
The sharp rise in attendance, with 19,779 unique visitors from 134 nationalities, testifies to the growing attractiveness of the event. Yacht builders, naval architects, distributors and manufacturers flocked to the halls every day to discover the latest technological advances and develop their networks.
This dynamic also reflects a growing willingness on the part of players to work together to meet the sector's global challenges, whether related to sustainability, electrification or digitalization. Joe Lynch, Managing Director of ICOMIA, welcomed this enthusiasm, declaring: " Metstrade offers an essential platform for connecting professionals worldwide, sharing solutions and strengthening the industry. "
An expanded program with strategic initiatives
Alongside the exhibitions, the 2024 edition was distinguished by the addition of major new events. The Superyacht Forum managed for the first time by the Metstrade team, brought together 700 participants on November 18 and 19. The event, which focused on issues specific to large units, enabled in-depth exchanges on trends and innovations in the field.
Another striking new feature is the Yacht Racing Forum organized in partnership with World Sailing, enriched the show program from November 20 to 22. This area, dedicated to ocean racing and cutting-edge technologies, attracted a specialized audience, consolidating Metstrade's position as a focal point for all nautical disciplines.
Expansion planned for 2025
Building on the success of this year's event, the organizers are planning a significant expansion for 2025. Niels Klarenbeek, show director, announced the opening of Hall 8, adding a further 10,000 m² of space. This expansion is designed to meet growing demand, particularly for the Superyacht Pavilion, which has been on a waiting list for several editions.
In addition to the physical expansion, Metstrade is planning a brand image overhaul. This evolution will reflect its positioning as a global platform and growth engine for the marine industry, with a new slogan: " Propelling Growth. Harbouring Innovation ".
Towards a more connected, sustainable industry
One of the key messages to emerge from Metstrade 2024 was the growing importance of environmental issues. Many exhibitors presented solutions focused on electrifying systems, reducing carbon footprints and integrating renewable energies.
These efforts are part of an underlying trend aimed at transforming the industry to meet the expectations of new generations of sailors, who are increasingly sensitive to sustainability issues. The presence of a diverse audience, including young entrepreneurs and start-ups, underlines this evolution.
