Improving logistics capabilities
Work began in December 2023 on a 9,500 m² site in Schiedam. For its 60th anniversary this year, Vetus plans to maximize the benefits of its new facilities, which will include offices, retail space and testing areas. These facilities aim to improve operational efficiency and the employee experience.
Marcel Borsboom, Vetus CEO, emphasized that the new building and associated innovations should bring significant improvements in terms of efficiency, employee satisfaction and proximity to end customers. He also pointed out that the company is in its " strongest position in its history "This is a tribute to the company's transformation from a small business in 1964 to a major player in the marine products sector.
The new headquarters is designed to double logistics capacity, optimizing product storage, processing and shipping. The site will also include space for product demonstrations and water testing with demonstration boats.
In terms of sustainable development, the building will be equipped with solar panels on the roof, with additional energy coming from wind and hydroelectric sources, with the aim of reducing its carbon footprint.
Developing your R&D department
Vetus has also strengthened its partnerships with major industry players, such as Mercury Marine, for its Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards (JPO) system, and Yamaha, which enables integration between the Bow Pro propulsion system and Helm Master EX. This year, Vetus also extended its collaboration with Honda Marine and Ultraflex, integrating Bow Pro engine, steering and thruster controls via a joystick.
What's more, the Dutch Vetus company is preparing to enter a new phase of growth in 2025, with a focus on innovation and product development.
