An Arlesian in the port of Boulogne sur Mer
For several decades, boat owners and yachtsmen have been calling for the creation of a boat ramp to enable them to launch their boats safely and sail off Boulogne.
In 2015, management of the marina was transferred to the agglomeration community, which was thus able to launch studies for the creation of this descent. The site chosen for this project is the former COMILOG site.
The dossier has been submitted to the French government to obtain the necessary authorization to launch the works.
Multiple postponements
The 74m by 12m wide structure, at a total cost of 2.3M euros, has been repeatedly postponed. Environmental impact, presence of seals, financing problems, Covid: the list is long to justify the delay in this project, the first sketches of which date back more than three decades.
But the long-awaited project finally seems to be taking shape. Construction of the long-awaited boat ramp is finally taking shape. The public inquiry, a prerequisite for the start of construction, will begin on November 25 and run for 15 days.
Developing the local boating economy
The creation of the slipway is in line with the determination of local politicians to develop the boating industry in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Other investments are planned, including a dry port and a careening area, which should be built near the inclined plane in a second phase. The local authority also remains attentive to requests from yachting and boating professionals wishing to set up in the port.
