Beneteau: Trigano confirms acquisition of Vendée-based group's accommodation business

The French Competition Authority has approved Trigano's acquisition of this business without imposing any conditions. The transaction should be finalized by the end of 2024.

An approved transaction

The Group had entered into exclusive negotiations with Bénéteau in May 2023, with the initial objective of completing the acquisition the same year. However, the French Competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence) has conducted an in-depth review of the transaction. It has consulted numerous players in the sector, some of whom have expressed concerns about the market share that the new entity would represent.

The transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of 2024, Trigano said. The company stresses that this acquisition will bring synergies, particularly in the areas of purchasing, logistics and manufacturing methods, thus strengthening its position in the European leisure vehicle industry.

A sector with structured competition

Following the transaction, the Trigano group will have more production sites than its main competitors. However, some of these competitors have recently increased their capacities and can deliver their mobile homes to all regions of France at competitive prices, enabling them to exert effective competitive pressure throughout the country, as the French Competition Authority has pointed out.

Bio Habitat operates six production sites in France and one in Italy, employing a total of 900 people. In 2023, the company recorded sales of 319.6 million euros. For its part, Trigano has two production sites for mobile homes and light residences in France.
