A center serving European manufacturers
Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) has officially opened the doors of its new marine engineering center, the Yamaha Marine European Engineering Centre (YMEEC), located near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The center stands out for its ability to offer boat builders optimal testing conditions, enabling them to test various outboard engine configurations in ideal climatic and aquatic conditions. This strategic choice of location enables year-round testing, bringing real added value to European shipyards. In this way, builders can accurately assess engine performance, testing different propeller set-ups and obtaining comparable data thanks to a standardized protocol.
A sustainable and efficient approach
The opening of the YMEEC also marks an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of boat builders. By centralizing testing, Yamaha and its partners are significantly reducing transport requirements, which in turn means lower CO2 emissions associated with travel. What's more, the facility provides accurate, reliable data that can be used to improve future outboard engine models. According to Fabrice Lacoume, Marine Director at Yamaha Motor Europe, " Thanks to the testing and homologation of boats that will be carried out there, we believe that the YMEEC will make a real difference for builders, while contributing to our global objectives of sustainable development in the marine sector. "
A link to the future of electric motors
This center is not limited to traditional combustion engines. Working closely with Yamaha Motor Corporation's facilities in the USA, YMEEC will play a crucial role in the development of electric motors, responding to growing demand for more sustainable marine solutions. This focus on electric power is part of a global approach to sustainability, aimed at anticipating market trends while respecting environmental best practices.
