Founded in Lanildut (Finistère) seven years ago by Matthieu Heilmann, chantier du Crapaud has taken on the air of a refuge, in the heart of the Abers region. In addition to its traditional services, this year it opened a shelter with a 24-hour badge. It can accommodate up to 20 boats.

The setting is exceptional. Probably one of the most beautiful sites in France. The abers, in North Finistère, resemble Norwegian fjords. It is said that they were formed in the same way, following the maximum extension of the Great Ice Age. Just a stone's throw away, sublime maritime routes open up, such as the Chenal du Four, between Ouessant and Le Conquet. In this remarkable setting, the Crapaud shipyard - named after an emblematic âeuros rock - is a stopover between the Brest Narrows and the road to the English coasts.

Located on the shores of Aber Ildut, the little brother of Aber Wrac'h, the Crapaud shipyard has quickly earned itself a solid reputation. Matthieu Heilmann, an experienced state sailor, took over the disused site seven years ago: " There are already ten of us, including eight employees. We can handle boats up to 14 m in length, and have a crane of up to 35 tons. "

Honda Marine and Smartliner dealer since this year

In addition to its mechanical, handling and painting services, the yard has been a "Honda Marine" and "Smartliner" dealer since this year. It welcomes both professional fishermen and pleasure boaters. " Many sail between the Brest Narrows and Portsall, or head straight for England. "Reputedly dangerous, due to the considerable number of reefs and rocks, the port of call has nonetheless evolved well: "The beacons have been considerably strengthened, making it easier to access. And besides, sailing remains an institution here, in an area that has almost one boat per garden with strikes just about everywhere..."

A new hangar with 24-hour badge access, called "l'Abri du bateau"

The Crapaud shipyard is following the trend towards secure parking facilities. The shipyard has just invested this year in the construction of a hangar christened "L'Abri du Bateau", with a 24-hour badge, video surveillance and on-site services: " This avoids untimely displacements, and meets a demand that we know is growing as boats become more and more expensive. "Of the 20 places available, ten are already occupied. The facility only opened in March 2024.
