BBScow, a 100% Mojito rental company
This spring, IDB Marine announces the creation of a subsidiary dedicated to yacht charter. The structure, called BBScow, offers yachtsmen the chance to charter a Mojito from Concarneau, the shipyard's stronghold. For its first season, the company has a Mojito 6.50 available for charter from Monday to Friday, for periods of 1 to 5 days. Other yachts from the shipyard's cruiser range are due to join the fleet, and management/leasing programs will eventually be offered.
Convincing boaters of the scow concept
For Denis Bourbigot, the founder of IDB Marine, the aim is not to set up a traditional charter company, but to support the shipyard's activity: "We're not going to be just another rental company. The aim is really to help people discover the scow and to go further than a simple one-day test ride with our customers. While a few people have understood the benefits of scow, this is not the case for the majority, as the owners of our Mojito 6.50s tell us when chatting on the pontoons. While the scow principle is well established in racing, it is not yet the case in cruising. So we need to get people to try it out, because today people only compare us to sailboats of comparable size, which is irrelevant."
Larger cruise scows
Confident in the concept, the shipyard has launched tooling for the future Mojito 32. This round-bowed cruising yacht, the big brother of the Mojito 6.50, has already won over some customers, says the manager, confirming that work on popularizing the scow is progressing: "While the majority of yachtsmen haven't yet caught on, some are already fully convinced of the advantages of scow. Our first Mojito 32 customers, unable to find one on the market, were ready to turn to one-off constructions."
