Neocean placed in compulsory liquidation

Neocean, the Occitan start-up behind the Overboat, a small, single-seater electric foil catamaran, was placed in receivership by the Montpellier Commercial Court on March 13, 2024. The company was founded in 2019 by Vincent Dufour, as a spin-off from the University of Montpellier.

New organization at the Southampton International Boat Show

The Southampton International Boat Show, the UK's leading boat show, has announced the new features for its 55th edition, scheduled for September 13 to 22, 2024. In particular, organizers have reorganized the boats afloat and moved the access to the show to facilitate traffic flow.

Death of North Sails France General Manager

We were saddened to learn of the death of Gautier Sergent, aged just 47, following a cardiac arrest in Barcelona. A renowned sail designer and racing specialist, notably of the America's Cup, he had been appointed General Manager of North Sails France in 2019, while working in Spain for the Alinghi team.

Bénéteau changes distributor in Asia

The Bénéteau brand has terminated its distribution agreements with Simpson Marine, its representative in Asia for the past 40 years. The French manufacturer, following the takeover of Simpson Marine by Italy's Sanlorenzo, like its cousin Lagoon before it, has preferred to appoint new distributors. From Hong Kong, Asiamarine will handle Bénéteau sailboats, while NextWave Yachting will take care of powerboats.

RAI Amsterdam takes over the Superyacht Forum

Already head of METSTrade, the world's largest yachting equipment show, RAI Amsterdam has announced that it has acquired the Superyacht Forum from The Superyacht Group. Since the late 1990s, the Superyacht Forum has been held in November in Amsterdam alongside the equipment show.

Magma Composites in receivership

Shipyard Magma Composites was placed in receivership on March 26, 2024 by the Vannes Commercial Court. The company, founded in 2017 by Olivier Pavia, specialized in complex composite parts and the construction of performance-oriented small boats at its Questembert yard.

D-Marin launches construction of Livorno marina

The D-Marin Group, in association with yachting specialist Azimut Benetti, is starting work on the new Livorno marina in Tuscany. With an investment of 15 MÂeuros, the works scheduled from April 2024 to June 2026 will create 815 berths, as well as 220 m2 of restaurant, 60 m2 of bar and 250 m2 of offices.
