Editorial / METS Trade: Equipment to help yachting make the transition

At a time when the world of professional yachting will be meeting in Amsterdam to discover the equipment that will make all the difference to your boat, the METS Trade will once again be an opportunity to reflect on the future of this leisure activity in the coming years.

A sector teeming with ideas

For 3 days, from November 15 to 17, the METS Trade aisles will once again host a large part of the world's boating industry. Builders in search of the ideal equipment or revolutionary materials will meet with developers and inventors presenting the latest innovations for yachting. We, the journalists, will be talking to all these players, to share with all those who couldn't make the trip this swarming of inventions and technological advances.

Equipment race or sustainable materials?

But once you've got past the excitement of the many ideas and innovations promising the most comfortable, most connected or most autonomous boat, METS Trade is also the time to reflect on the yachting of tomorrow. Is the boat of the future packed with technology and home automation? How should it be built and powered? Numerous studies and round tables will enrich the debate, in an effort to avoid greenwashing. Isn't the boat the ideal shell for the famous "happy sobriety"? And if this doesn't lead to volume savings in equipment, there's no doubt that equipment manufacturers offering sturdy, useful equipment that meets a real need and can be repaired... will find a place of choice.
