Nauti-Plaisance and Distrimer under the flag of the Legrand Group
Announced before the summer, the Legrand Group's takeover of the Nauti-Plaisance and Distrimer boat dealerships became effective on September 1, 2023. A family-owned company based in north-western France, the Legrand Group is a specialist in motor vehicle distribution, with numerous brands and dealerships for Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Ford, Honda, Jeep Mazda, MG Opel and Suzuki, as well as in two-wheelers and land and marine leisure equipment through the Sea Doo brand. A new nautical division is created around Nauti-Plaisance and Distrimer, the two neighbouring dealerships on the qui Charcot in Ouistreham. All the staff and the two separate entities have been retained. Sébastien André, head of Distrimer since 2005, is now responsible for managing both entities. The official inauguration is scheduled for November 24.
Investment for a first step in boating
For the Legrand Group, this is a first step into the nautical sector, for a structure whose ambitions are likely to grow in the medium term. In the meantime, the head of the nautical entity remains cautious: "We're keeping the two entities to maintain the brands distributed and the exclusivity contracts, Jeanneau on one side and Quicksilver on the other. For the moment, it's a question of seeing how things evolve. We're investing in a new crane for launching and retrieving boats. The offices will be slightly refurbished, and we'll be doing some work on the shop front."
At a time when the automotive industry is showing increasing interest in pleasure boating, the Legrand Group is one more example of its massive entry into the boating sector, with RC Marine at the head of the line also the Ancel group or motorhome specialist Hunyvers.
