Ailerons for stabilization on the road
The Italian boat equipment specialist Quick presented two new products related to underway stabilization at METS Trade 2022.
The fins, called Viator, are located on the sides of the boat to limit the roll when sailing. Powered by synchronous motors, they are mounted without axes, for greater safety in the event of impact with objects in the water. Quick specifies that it has worked carefully on the profiles to limit drag and additional consumption linked to the device.
Fins are available in models VT 700 to VT 2000 for boats from 50 to 145 feet in length.
Interceptors for boat trim
Quick has also unveiled a line of transom-mounted interceptors. The range of electric levelers is completely plug and play. Powered by 30 V, their consumption is limited. They give the right longitudinal angle to the hull to optimize fuel consumption, while correcting dynamic oscillations in waves and porpoising. They also improve turning performance. The 5 models cover boats from 20 to 130 feet.
An integrated system
Quick had already positioned itself in the boat stabilization market, at anchor, with the Quick Gyro, whose first model was launched in 2017. With software that allows the coupling of the gyro stabilizer, lateral fins and interceptors, within a solution called MC 2 With Seacentric, Quick now has a comprehensive technical solution to control all of the boat's movements and provide optimal comfort on board.
Michele Marzucco, CEO of Quick, is pleased with this success and sees it as a step in the technological shift the Italian company has taken from more traditional deck equipment and onboard comfort: " MC 2 Seacentric is a first step in a new path, partly started in 2017 with the Quick Gyro. We have a very ambitious goal: to become a reference bridge not only in the field of stabilization, but also in high-value technological systems with a significant software dimension."
