The former boss of Discovery Yachts sentenced
While the British shipyard Discovery Yachts has finally liquidated at the beginning of 2022 it is still in the news in the British nautical world. The English justice has ordered its former manager Sean Langdon to pay 1.12 million pounds sterling to Andrew France. The latter had bought a 58-foot sailboat from the brand in 2017, but it proved to be faulty with waterways. The shipyard having filed for bankruptcy, it is his former boss who must ensure the payment of damages.
Raymarine and Avikus join forces in the autonomous boat
Electronics manufacturer Raymarine and Hyundai Group subsidiary Avikus have signed an agreement to integrate the NeuBoat autonomous navigation system developed by the Korean brand for pleasure boats into the British brand's products.
Temo distinguished in the United States
Temo, the electric motor manufacturer, has won the Best in Show award at the American sailboat show in Annapolis. Recently arrived on the US market, the equipment manufacturer is rewarded for its Temo 450 motor and its presentation on the show.
Webasto invests in batteries
The German equipment manufacturer Webasto has obtained a green loan of 100 Meuros from the European Investment Bank for the development of its battery technologies for electric vehicles. Webasto is active in both leisure and marine vehicles and could eventually use its batteries for electric boats.
Vaan Yachts acquires a shipyard
Aluminum catamaran brand Vaan Yachts has announced the acquisition of the Dutch shipyard Yagra, located in Hellevoetsluis. The yard will continue its maintenance activities under the name Vaan Services, while offering the multihull brand the opportunity to develop its construction activities thanks to its 8,750 m² of land and 2 buildings with a total area of 3,000 m²
