Iguana Yachts takes control of Wetton Craft
The leading French manufacturer of amphibious pleasure boats, Iguana Yachts, based in Normandy, announced on August 4, 2022 the acquisition of another specialist in the sector, Wetton Craft. This acquisition is accompanied by the integration of Eric Divry, founder of Wetton Craft, and his design teams into Iguana Yachts. The assembly workshop for Wetton Craft boats is moving from Tourcoing to Iguana's Mondeville site in the suburbs of Caen, while an R&D office remains in the Lille region.
Global ambitions
Iguana Yachts is counting on the acquisition of Wetton Craft to consolidate its position and accelerate its international growth. Its founder, Antoine Brugidou explains it as follows: "The acquisition of Wettoncraft is part of our deep desire to facilitate access to the sea by democratizing amphibious technology. Our ambition is to become the world leader in this new high-potential market. The arrival of Eric Divry, the founder of Wettoncraft, and his teams within our company allows us to increase our R&D capacity to launch new projects. We have identified many synergies within the two companies, which we will share with you at the fall tradeshows."
The 2 brands rely on different technologies, with boats of different sizes. While Wetton Craft proposes to go ashore with the boat on wheels or coupled like a trailer, Iguana uses tracks. The Iguana Yachts models, with a high-end positioning and higher lengths, has met a real development internationally, since its creation in 2008.
