From ocean racing to boatyards
Partner of Benjamin Dutreux in the Vendée Globe 2020-2021, Soromap provided the young sailor with all the ropes on board his IMOCA boat, which he had rigged himself. After this successful experience in ocean racing, the Charente-based distributor has decided to perpetuate its activity in seamanship by broadening the spectrum of targeted customers.
"We are working with Robline as a partner for the development of the sailmaking rope business. It takes different forms: trading in spools for hardware stores, riggers or sailmakers, selling single ropes or small quantities, finished with the endings requested by the customer, and finally supplying new boatyards with all the current rigging as original equipment. Today we work with Nautitech, Catana and the Grand Large Yachting group explains Paul Dagault, Soromap's rope-making manager.
Advise in the definition of the boat
Soromap does not just sell rope measurements. The teams work directly with the design offices to define the best deck plan, relying on its technical expertise and its knowledge of rigging for which the company has been supplying masts and ropes for many years. "We're not just a reference supplier. We bring the expertise to put the right ropes in the right places. Working with IMOCA, Class40 or one-offs allows us to keep a technical eye on the latest developments justifies Paul Dagault.
The Robline catalog allows Soromap Racing to cover all needs, from polyester garcette to complex double braided ropes and mixed polyester and dyneema sheaths.
A distribution know-how
Soromap Racing customers also benefit from the company's customer service expertise. Professionals can configure the ropes to be cut directly on their online space with the right endings to generate the purchase order and the quote. A work order allows a good quality follow-up and a quick shipment within a maximum of one week.
The team is growing steadily to meet the demand and employs 3 sailors.
