End of work in Port Haliguen
The Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan and the Conseil Départemental du Morbihan officially inaugurated the new facilities at Port-Haliguen on June 20, 2022. The marina of the Quiberon peninsula sees the end of 5 years of work begun in 2017. The site, which welcomes more than 300,000 visitors per year, is fully operational again for the 2022 season.
Adapting the harbor to the demands of boaters in the 2020s
Started in the 2010s, the reflection on the new configuration of Port Haliguen aimed to review the marina, built between 1968 and 1975, to adapt it to the needs of today's boaters and their increasingly large boats. The emphasis is on the creation of a place of life with shops and the possibility in the central basin to host events and "non-standard" heritage or large yachts.
After a long period of dredging of the docks, Port-Haliguen has been equipped with new, wider pontoons with PRM access and connected terminals, completed in March 2019. Since the end of 2020, efforts have been focused on land-based spaces, with the construction of new premises and the development of the quays. 150 new berths were opened during the port redevelopment.
Public and private funding
The overall cost of the 5 years of work is approximately 30 Meuros. The manager, the Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan, is responsible for 80% of the cost, with the Department providing a further 20% in subsidies. The Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan is a local public company (SPL), which distributes its sources of financing.
The final breakdown of funding is as follows:
- 6 Meuros : Grants from the Morbihan Departmental Council
- 3 Meuros: Guarantees of use and private partnerships
- 12 Meuros : Borrowings
- 6 Meuros : Self-financing of the Compagnie des ports
- 3 Meuros : Provisions used
