A management contract for the port of Hennebont
Sellor is one of the most important marina managers in France. This semi-public company of the Lorient agglomeration is in charge of the majority of the sites in the Morbihan harbor, with 7 dry and wet ports, under public service delegation. Since January 2022, an 8th port has joined Sellor, in a slightly different format. "We won a 3-year service contract for the town of Hennebont to manage the marina and its 103 moorings. The municipality wished to retain control of the infrastructure and investments. The management was previously provided by an association" explains Brieuc Morin, director of Sellor.
Attracting sailboats to the Blavet and working with nautical professionals
For the semi-public company, participation in the tender was logical. "Since Hennebont is a member of Lorient Agglomeration, it was logical to position ourselves. Moreover, for functional reasons. The downstream ports that we manage must function with the river and in particular its boat maintenance yards." says the director.
The manager makes a point of bringing a gain to both the boaters and the professionals of the nautical industry of Hennebont. "Our vocation is to bring in mainly sailboats. We don't want to welcome too many motor boats, RIBs or jetskis on the river in order to respect its setting. These sailboats will also allow us to develop the work of the shipyards on site. If there was any mistrust on the part of the professionals, it has been lifted. We have no desire to take over everything, and maintenance, berths and handling remain their responsibility. As far as boaters are concerned, we will be able to optimize the places at Hennebont and allow the 2,400 boaters on the waiting list at Sellor to benefit from them," says Brieuc Morin with satisfaction.
A logical harbor for all boaters
The management of the port of Hennebont is part of the diagnosis that Sellor is making of the yachting industry in the Lorient region and which should continue. "There are structuring ports with important services such as Kernevel, Port Louis or Guidel, but this has a cost that does not correspond to all boaters. We also need more affordable anchorages, like Hennebont. This is why we will maintain the rates there, while creating jobs and bringing the know-how of Sellor concludes its director.
