6 billion euros for the Italian nautical industry in 2021
The Italian yachting industry association, Cofindustria Italiana, has presented the results of its statistical report on the performance of the yachting sector in 2021. Conducted between September 2021 and February 2022, the survey of a representative sample of Italian yachting companies provides very encouraging figures for the sector. The report forecasts a 23.8% increase in overall sales in 2021, to around 6 billion euros. It would be back to the record level reached in 2007/2008.
Italy claims a leading position in the field of superyachts with more than 50% of the world's orders and in the fields of inflatable boats and pleasure equipment.
Export growth and prospects up in 2022
The export rate of the Italian nautical sector is 86%. In the period ending October 2021, the export production of shipyards reached a record value of 3 billion euros.
Italian shipbuilders are optimistic. 88% of shipyards expect their sales to grow and none to decline. In the equipment sector, 77% of companies expect to increase their turnover, while only 8% fear a decline. It should be noted, however, that the survey was conducted before the war in Ukraine began;
