The Old Port of Cannes within an international port network
Since March 1, 2022, the Old Port of Cannes has officially changed its concessionaire. The Island Global Yachting (IGY) group and the French construction group Fayat, united in the Marina du Vieux Port de Cannes company, have won the City of Cannes' call for tenders against the historical manager, the Nice Côte d'Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and its entity Rivier Ports. The new concession is for a period of 30 years.
By joining IGY, the Cannes marina joins a portfolio of 23 international marinas controlled by the company in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, notably in Saint-Martin, but also in Europe, in London, Porto-Cervo, Malaga or Sète.
Important investments in the port of Cannes
The new management team has set out its ambitions for Cannes' renowned Mediterranean and international port of call. "We are looking forward to transforming the Old Port of Cannes into a world-renowned and appreciated model of a maritime destination that also includes top-notch events," says Tom Mukamal, CEO of IGY.
Investment programs have been announced, including
- the creation of a fishing village to be delivered before January 1, 2024
- the construction of a semi-buried parking lot with 519 light vehicle equivalent spaces (including 35 bus and coach spaces)
- an extension of the Albert Edouard Pier
- relocation and improvement of the careening area
- modernization of the technical area including the refueling station
- the construction of a new Harbour Master's Office and a new Service Centre.
To promote the activity of the port and its role as a tourist and heritage showcase, the water level will be developed to showcase old riggers, classic sailboats and traditional boats.
Emphasis will also be placed on increasing the capacity of large units, and improving accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
New services such as electric shuttles between the Old Port and Port Canto are also announced.
