Marlec is a specialist in renewable energies. This English company in strong growth which touches the terrestrial market as well as the nautical one works in 2 fields: the wind turbines and the solar panels.
Rutland wind turbines have earned a reputation for quality
Rutland wind turbines are entirely manufactured in Corby, England. 100% of the parts have been produced in these factories for 43 years. Today, more than 110,000 wind turbines are in service around the world. Each wind turbine produced is tested on leaving the factory and it is the validation of this operation that gives it its serial number. Thus, the "start-up failure" is unknown for Marlec.
It is this logic of quality and high standards that pushes the company to develop further in this area. Here, the race is not about price, but about offering users the most reliable and efficient product. Often the sailors are in remote areas (whether in the middle of an ocean or at the poles), they need to be able to count on reliable and high-performance equipment. The after-sales service is also present with the possibility of ordering all spare parts for all the wind turbines produced, even the oldest.
For 2022, the Rutland 1200 arrives in a 48 V version (in addition to the 12 and 24 V versions). And from now on the whole range (1200, 914i and 504) is compatible with lithium batteries.
The Spectra and SunPower lines for solar
As for solar panels, Marlec offers a range of rigid panels and a range of flex panels. This year 2022, the range of rigid panels arrives with a brand new technology. These are the Spectra PERC Shingle models where the cells are connected to each other by overlapping, glued with a silver glue. For example, a "classic" 100 W panel measures 115 x 55 cm (0.63 m2) while the new 110 W PERC Shingle (therefore more powerful) measures only 95 x 55 cm (0.52 m2). In addition, the incidence of shadows is much lower with this assembly (no cutting of half the panel in case of shadow).
This range is available from 30 to 400 W. To facilitate the integration, this manufacturer had the idea to standardize the length of the panels (95 cm), varying only their width to obtain the different powers. Thus the installation on a gantry is greatly facilitated.
For the Flex panels, Marlec distributes the Rolls in the field: the SunPower in 50, 110 and 170 W. The assurance of a quality panel, certainly a little more expensive than some competitors, but much more reliable.
