New director for Torqeedo
Electric motor manufacturer Torqeedo has announced a management reorganization effective March 1, 2022. Following the decision of Ralf Plieninger, CEO of Torqeedo, to leave the company as of May 1, 2022, the Deutz Group, which has owned the company since 2017, has made official the immediate arrival of a new interim CEO. This is Markus Müller, already technical director of Deutz, who will combine this with his new role.
After the departure of founder Christoph Ballin in June 2020, the departure of Ralf Plieninger marks a new stage in the departure of the historical players of the company founded in 2005. He had worked as technical director and general manager to transform the start-up into a major player in electric motors for pleasure craft.
Increasingly strong links with Deutz
The arrival of Markus Müller should accelerate the effective merger with the Deutz Group. He has been technical director of Deutz since 2021. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and has worked in various industrial companies as technical manager. Markus Müller is particularly involved in the electrification strategy of the Austrian industrialist, called e-Deutz. His appointment as head of Torqeedo should further accelerate the integration and linkage between Torqeedo and its parent company. At a time when Mercury Marine and Yamaha, the heavyweights in the marine engine industry, are moving into the electric sector, the strength of Torqeedo's organization will prove to be essential.
