ePropulsion: The Chinese electric engine manufacturer announces triple-digit growth!

ePropulsion sees its sales rise by 200%

The manufacturer of electric motors for pleasure craft, ePropulsion, has unveiled its results for 2021 and a particularly optimistic outlook for 2022, particularly with new boat builders.

Engine sales to triple by 2021

While it does not specify the amount, Chinese electric boat motor manufacturer ePropulsion has announced record revenue growth in 2021. The change is +200% compared to the year 2020. The number of ePropulsion electric motors sold in 2021 reaches 15,000 units.

Growth is being driven by the United States and Europe, the main markets for the equipment manufacturer. The United Kingdom and Germany are the two pillars of the European market for the engine manufacturer. It has continued to expand its international distribution network at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022, notably in Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Serbia.

2022 will continue the growth of the electric boat

ePropulsion is convinced that 2022 should follow 2021 and reinforce the growth dynamics of the electric boat market. The Chinese manufacturer is counting on a 100% growth. It is counting on both the aftermarket, through the conversion of thermal boats to electric, and on the growth in demand from boat builders for new electric boats.

Technical development and adaptation of the nautical industry to electric power

The equipment manufacturer is working on new generations of propellers for better efficiency in both propulsion and hydrogeneration at all rotation speeds. Its research and development activities also focus on intelligent boats and various boating aids for "more sustainable" navigation. It has recently raised several million dollars in this sense .

Without revealing all the projects on which the company intends to get involved, the head of ePropulsion lists a series of issues for the development of electric boats. "If we are to make the transition to more sustainable boating a reality, the number of marinas with charging infrastructure must increase significantly, with more charging points in every marina. This will facilitate a faster transition to electric propulsion. We stakeholders, including electric boat manufacturers, energy companies, marinas and regulatory authorities must work together to bring about this change." concludes Danny Tao, CEO of ePropulsion.
