Powerboats and American brands to drive Bénéteau's growth in 2021

Bénéteau supported by its American brands

The Bénéteau Group has published its results for the year 2021. They show growth reinforced by a very good fourth quarter, driven by powerboats and the American market.

Double-digit revenue growth by 2021

On the occasion of the publication of its results for fiscal year 2021 (December 1 to 31), the Bénéteau Group was able to congratulate itself on an 11.9% increase in published sales. 1.227 billion for all its activities, including 1.044 billion for the Boat business. This growth was notably reinforced compared with forecasts thanks to a particularly active fourth quarter, with 261.4 million euros for the Boat business, up +79.6% on a reported basis compared with 2020, despite supply difficulties.

The group's motorboats are the locomotives of the group

Within the Bénéteau Group, sailboats are declining in percentage terms. They now account for 43.1%, compared with 46.1% in 2020.

Motorboats, all brands combined, accounted for 56.9% of revenues, up 17.5% on a reported basis. Growth was even 52.3% at constant exchange rates for the American brands Four Winns, Wellcraft, Glastron and Scarab. The Bénéteau Group attributes this success to the repositioning of its products and work on its distribution channels, which should continue in the coming years.

In sailing, sales of catamarans in concessions, up 24%, offset the difficulties in the rental fleet market. The Group estimates that this market should pick up again in 2022. The Bénéteau Group's sailing market is nevertheless up +4.5% at constant exchange rates.

Strong growth in Asia and the United States

Of its two main euro markets, the United States and Europe accounted for 80% of revenues, with the USA showing the strongest growth: 24.9% at constant exchange rates. The Asia-Pacific region also posted strong growth, up 50.3%. However, rental fleets continued to decline, by 42.2%.

Optimistic outlook for 2022

The Bénéteau Group is revising its 2022 objectives upwards. With an order book up 40% at the end of January 2021, the Vendée-based leader in pleasure boating is confident about the future. It confirms a double-digit growth forecast for the 2022 fiscal year.
