The Polish shipyard Mirage Boats has been acquired by Frydenbo Marine, a well-known subcontractor to the European marine industry.

Frydenbo Marine acquires Mirage Boats

The Polish shipyard Mirage Boats goes under the Norwegian flag. Frydenbo Marine, the yachting arm of the Scandinavian group Frydenbo, announced on January 31, 2022 the acquisition of the Polish company that manufactures 1,300 composite and aluminum boats each year. Mirage Boats employs 300 people.

The two companies have been operationally linked for many years. Indeed, the boats of the Nordkapp brand, taken over in 2019 by Frydenbo, have been built since 1999 in the Polish Mirage Boats yard. The factory also builds the Sting brand owned by Frydenbo.

Securing the production of boats

Present on various fronts in the boating industry through the distribution of Zodiac RIBs in Norway and Sweden, and Bénéteau boats in Sweden, as well as Mercury Marine engines, the Frydenbo group wanted to ensure the production capacity of its own boats, Mirage Boats being a recognized and important subcontractor in Poland, where the job market in the boating industry is tight. With a turnover of NOK 541 million in 2020, the company is faced with ever increasing demand.

"We have high ambitions for continued growth and development in our boat business and for further development in the European market. By securing the capacity and ownership of Mirage Boats, we are taking an important step in this direction," says Knut Herman Gjøvaag, CEO and owner of the Frydenbo Group.
