Axe Sail acquires 1,200 m² building at Port Chantereyne
The Axe Sail company is currently building new premises on Port Chantereyne in Cherbourg. This building, with a surface area of 1,200 m², will bring together a large part of the activities of the company, which was created in 2014 and defines itself as a multiservice center. 500 m² will be dedicated to the sail making, 110 m² to the nautical saddlery. A 220 m² rigging workshop will be used for the preparation of the mast, the furlers, the crimping of the cables, the shelter. A showroom of 120 m² will allow us to show our know-how. There will also be a space to welcome our customers and to think with them about their specifications. Finally, an open space will house the offices of the sales and technical teams
says Axel Gadbin.
The integration in the premises is planned for the end of April to be fully operational in May 2022. Coupled with the renovation of the buildings of the composite pole, the creation of the new premises represents a budget of 940 000euros.
An upgrade necessary for the development of the sailmaker
Axe Sail is the distributor of Incidence Sails for the English Channel and the North of France and produces sails locally. The company did not have adequate premises for the growth of the activity. It was a vital need. Our current buildings, 6 kilometers from the port, forced us to go back and forth, wasting time and isolating the teams from the offices and the composite yard on the port. We lacked visibility for boaters who could not see the floor. Now, we will be 800 meters from the composite shipyard and its 2,000 m² platform
says the manager.
Recruiting sailmakers
The company continues its growth dynamic, which is reflected in the opening of new positions. It already employs 14 people and plans to hire 2 to 3 people in the field of sail making, saddlery and rigging. We have also just hired a referent for the follow-up of maintenance sites and contact with customers. There may also be a hiring on granville agency which is developing well
concludes Axel Gadbin.
