Rapprochement in the semi-rigid
Two major players in the RIB market have made their merger official. The Italian brands Sacs and Technorib (manufacturer of Pirelli and Pzero boats) have announced their merger into a new entity called Sacs Tecnorib Spa. The turnover of this new heavyweight in maxi-ribs in 2022 should exceed 45 Meuros.
NINA and Nautihub innovation competition
The Loire associations NINA and Nautihub launch the 2022 edition of their competition for innovation in boating. Applications must be submitted before February 25, 2022. The rewards at stake are missions of support to commercial visibility and coaching.
Deferral of the boating tax in Canada
The proposed 10% luxury tax on watercraft valued at more than $250,000, scheduled for January 1, 2022, has been postponed. New details are expected to be released later this year.
New European standards
Four new ISO standards were added on December 8, 2021 to the list of harmonized standards of the European Recreational Craft Directive. They are :
- EN ISO 8099-2:2021 - Small craft euros Waste systems euros Part 2: Sewage treatment systems
- EN ISO 8849:2021- Small craft euros Electrically operated bilge pumps
- EN ISO 14945:2021 - Small craft euros Builder's plate
- EN ISO 14946:2021- Small craft euros Maximum load capacity
New maritime federation in the Mediterranean
After two years of reflection, the Mediterranean Maritime Federation has just been created. It gathers about fifteen maritime associations of the South PACA region in order to assert the weight and diversity of the Mediterranean maritime world and to be a new force of proposal. All sectors of the maritime economy, including boating, are represented. The federation is chaired by Jean-Yves Le Dreff.
