GlobeSailor acquires Coolsailing
Boat rental agency GlobeSailor made official on December 2, 2021 the acquisition of its French competitor Coolsailing. Also active in boat rental for more than 20 years, the company had been owned since 2014 by the Skiset group, a well-known player in mountain vacations. Coolsailing has a portfolio of 4,000 customers with an annual turnover of 2 million euros. "I was contacted by Skiset, which wanted to separate from Coolsailing. Like all winter sports, the group was strongly impacted by Covid and wanted to refocus on its core business. I was very interested and we took over the contracts and the business" explains Olivier Albahary, founder of GlobeSailor.
Pooling of skills and strengthening of the French market
Through this transaction, GlobeSailor aims to strengthen its position in the French sea vacation market. "It's a small but very successful business, with a real client portfolio and a very good reputation. This will strengthen our presence on the French market", says the CEO. The Coolsailing name will be preserved.
The interest of the operation also lies in the acquisition of know-how and human skills. "I was also interested in the team. We are taking over 3 experienced employees both in the back office and in customer care. Charlotte Reynaud, who arrived in August 2017, after having worked at LateSail and Click and Sail, is joining our team to take over the sales management in France," says Olivier Albahary.
Recruitment needed for the influx of boaters
While the boat rental market remains in very good health, recruitment is a major issue for GlobeSailor, which now employs around 60 people with the integration of Coolsailing. "We are confident about the post-Covid era. So we need skills and sales forces. We will be recruiting in 2022, both in our Paris and Lorient offices" concludes the founder of GlobeSailor.
