Variable speed air conditioning for comfort
At the METS Trade innovation competition, the Swedish marine equipment manufacturer won an award for its latest air conditioning model, the Voyager Series TX. Revealed at the IBEX show in October, it is an integrated air conditioning unit offering both air conditioning and heating. Its main innovation is the management of the compressor, whose speed is regulated according to the needs of the ship. Once the temperature required by the yachtsman is reached, the compressor speed is reduced, reducing potential noise pollution.
Energy saving for the boat
Intelligent air conditioning compressor speed management allows the Voyager Series TX to reduce power consumption. According to manufacturer's tests, air conditioning amperage requirements are reduced by 40% compared to existing models
An Eco mode, which allows the compressor capacity to be reduced manually, allows the crew to cope with a temporary lack of energy on board, whether it be during long sailings for small boats, which Dometic is particularly targeting with this model, or in the event of a system fault.
Increased product life
Dometic also claims a better durability of its products over time. The limitation of the number of compressor stops/starts in favor of a variation of its speed limits the wear of the parts and generates a need for maintenance lower than a traditional air-conditioning.
The Voyager Series TX, with a titanium condenser, is available in two sizes ranging from 3,500 to 18,000 BTUs.
