A distress signal confirmation system
ACR Electronics' EPIRB system has won a DAME Award in the boater safety equipment category. Developed by the manufacturer of electronic communication and safety equipment, from AIS and VHF to transponders, EPIRBs and emergency lights, it is integrated with ResQLink personal locator beacons designed by the brand. RLS stands for Return Link Service. Based on the European Galileo positioning system, it allows the sailor who has activated his distress signal to have confirmation of its good reception, via a message received on the beacon's integrated screen. The sailor, whether a professional or a yachtsman in distress, is thus reassured and in better psychological conditions to face the current difficulties.
A state-of-the-art personal beacon
Via its display, the boater can check the operation and battery level. The rest of the design of the ResQLink beacon incorporates all of ACR Electronics' developments in the field, from the protection of the antenna and the activation buttons, to details such as the incorporation of a flashing infrared light for night-time detection by the binoculars of rescue boats. Floating, the beacon has a life expectancy of more than 24 hours.
Certification in deployment
If ResQLink does not require a subscription, the beacon must be registered in the country of the holder. The registration is validated in most European countries and is being accepted in the United States. The price according to the variants is between 355euros and 415euros.
