A self tailing cleat for boat mooring
The Italian company Bonomi has been awarded the DAME Design Award 2021 for its innovative range of cleats called JOY. These products are intended for the mooring of large pleasure boats. But with these products, no more difficulties to take the tension on the hawsers and to make the knots of the cleat under tension. The Joy system integrates on one side a freely rotating roller to take up the mooring tension and on the other side a toothed sheave, motorized, assuming a self-tailing function, just like what exists on a winch. By bringing together in a single piece of hardware all the functions needed by the crew during port maneuvers, the Joy allows them to do without the small windlasses often found on super yachts and makes final mooring easier thanks to the mechanical holding of the mooring line in the self-tailing.
A range of cleats for sailboats and motorboats
Bonomi intends to cover the widest possible spectrum of boats with its deck fittings. The cleats, made entirely of 316 L stainless steel, are available for two nominal tensions: 100 kg and 300 kg. The self tailing works for mooring lines from 20 to 32 mm diameter. The electric motors are supplied with 12V or 24V voltage to suit the boat installation. To allow an installation on a rail of fargue, a version adopting a vertical electric motor is proposed. The weight of the cleats is 23 kg for the biggest model and 11,5 kg for the smallest.
