Distributor and manufacturer of electric marine motors
The Vebrat company was created in November 2017 to work in electric mobility. Based in Loire-Atlantique, the company quickly turned to electric boats, after also equipping land vehicles such as buggies. "Our main business is that of assembler-integrator for our electric motors and batteries. In parallel, we also distribute the EZ Marine brand" explains Philippe Pinault, co-founder and president of Vebrat.
References of electric boats
The company has already equipped several boats since its creation. A first electric retrofit was carried out for a Belgian customer. A 300 horsepower diesel inboard engine was replaced by a 160 kW continuous shaft electric motor. Vebrat also worked on a solar catamaran for Monaco. "In this case, we provide all the equipment and do the installation. This is also why we want to do the assembly of our batteries ourselves, by buying our cells. This allows us to adapt them to the boats in terms of geometry and to manage the waterproofing and the connections, which is not possible by buying batteries from the car industry" underlines Philippe Pinault.
Create a range of outboard motors
At the Grand Pavois 2021, Vebrat presented its 100 kW outboard engine prototype. Mounted on an existing engine base, the electric unit is entirely assembled in France by the Loire engine manufacturer. The machine weighs 170 kg. To accommodate the battery pack, the semi-rigid boat on display had undergone some modifications, but Vebrat is working with its partner Bateau-direct on the development of a boat adapted to electric propulsion.
"Bateau-direct distributes semi-rigid boats from the Brazilian shipyard Polimarine, which is willing to work on a boat adapted to our propulsion systems to maximize battery storage. More broadly, after the 100 kW Thazard, we want to create a complete range of outboard and inboard boats in these power ranges," concludes the president of Vebrat
