The organizers of the Grand Pavois have drawn up their conclusions for the 2021 edition of the boat show in La Rochelle. A positive assessment despite a weather handicap and apprehensions regarding the health crisis.

More boaters at the Grand Pavois 2021

At the time of the balance sheet, Grand Pavois Organisation, the association in charge of the boat show in La Rochelle, is savouring the results beyond its expectations. The number of visitors to the event was 79,916 over 6 days, between 28 September and 3 October 2021. This is an increase of 5% compared to the last edition in 2019 (Editor's note: the 2020 edition had been canceled due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic). It is for the organizer a success, while it still anticipated a decline of 20 to 30% of visitors a few months before the show.

A stable offer of boats according to the organizer

As far as the offer to boaters is concerned, the organizers show figures strictly identical to those of previous years, which may be surprising, i.e. 800 brands and 750 boats exhibited. If the basin of the port of Minimes seemed full as usual, several boats were moored parallel to the quay. However, the offer remained varied, ranging from small sailboats of less than 20 feet to 72-foot motor trimarans.

On the equipment manufacturers' side, the new outdoor configuration, under individual stands, was very attractive and could be renewed, according to the organizers.

The weather and the gale accompanied by rain during the closing weekend have cancelled several events, including the Grand Pavois Fishing and the 1st paddle race, the Paddle Jam. The holding of the Windfoil, Wingfoil and ETF26 nationals, allowed to maintain animations, whose variety increases from year to year.
