The Fountaine-Pajot Group continues to grow
During its annual conference, the Fountaine-Pajot group returned to the subject of its flourishing economic situation, without being able to reveal the details in figures before the official publication, constrained by the legal obligations linked to its stock market listing. The company confirms the significant share of its activity in exports, which reaches 82% of the turnover. The group, which includes Fountaine-Pajot catamarans and Dufour monohull sailboats, currently has 1,233 employees. It expects double-digit growth for the 2021/2022 season.
33 million euros of investment
Romain Motteau returned to the company's strategic plan. "The group is currently building its vision for 2030 and a precise strategic plan, called Odyssea for 2024. It is based on 3 pillars: social, environmental and economic. We are planning 33 million euros of investments and the launch of 13 models," says the Fountaine-Pajot CEO.
A timeline on the progress towards a more eco-responsible boat
The Charente shipyard has very strong ecological ambitions and is now working on the subject with Dimitri Caudrelier's consulting firm Quantis. "We want to achieve an almost carbon-free cruise and become the leader in environmental transformation in the nautical industry. We want to create an innovation platform. We are working on life cycle analysis, with our factories and with our customers. The main themes are propulsion, water on board and waste" explains Romain Motteau.
As for the concrete translation on board the group's boats, some elements of the timetable were mentioned. The first hydrogen fuel cell, in partnership with EoDev, should be offered at Fountaine-Pajot in 2022. The first sailboat, with hybrid electric propulsion, is expected in 2023 with the "philosophy of being 100% electric in summer, including air conditioning". Before 2024, a Fountaine-Pajot motoryacht catamaran should be launched.
Outside of propulsion, the ambitions are more measured. For water management, a drinking water tap is announced to reduce the number of plastic bottles... As for alternative materials to fiberglass and current resins, "this will be the last cherry on the cake", by 2025/2030.
