Plastimo acquires its Spanish distributor Dismarina
Recreational equipment manufacturer and distributor Plastimo made official the acquisition of Dismarina on July 8, 2021. The company, founded in 1998 by Salvador Bagunyà and his wife Carme Manen, had been Plastimo's distributor in Spain for many years. Located in Barcelona, the company employs 11 people and has a network of 1,000 dealers in Spain. Its premises of 600 m² allow it to stock the products of its catalog of 500 references.
Strengthening a long-standing partnership in the Spanish yachting industry
The acquisition of Dismarina is part of the close relationship between Plastimo and its distributor for many years. The Lorient-based equipment manufacturer is taking advantage of its good year in 2020 to accelerate its export strategy. "Dismarina is a very loyal partner. The Dismarina catalog already includes almost 300 pages of Plastimo among its 400 pages. This relationship had already allowed Plastimo to negotiate some brand distributions for Spain like Barton or Fishmaster. In addition, Dismarina will keep its own distribution lines such as Karver or Contender sailcloth. The company has a long history in the sailmaking industry, especially in light sail, which could be interesting for Plastimo" says Cathy Millien, in charge of the communication of the Alliance Marine group.
A distribution subsidiary for Plastimo
Since its integration into the Alliance Marine group in 2012, Plastimo has been strengthened again. The catalog has been enriched notably by the acquisition of Topoplastic and its tableware ranges. But the company had not made any acquisition of distributors or companies internationally. Dismarina thus marks a turning point in the dynamics of the company. It can be noted that 2 Plastimo distributors in Europe, Forniture Nautiche Italiane in Italy and Bukh Bremen in Germany were acquired directly by the Alliance Marine group, respectively in 2018 and 2017.
