Motor catamarans : A new shipyard will be built in Canet-en-Roussillon

The shipyard A Sea Venture Collective to build a new building in Canet-en-Roussillon

The company A Sea Venture Yachting and its Seavy motor catamarans have ambitious projects in Canet-en-Roussillon. Its co-founder, Benjamin Canler, tells us more about the company's positioning in the yachting and boat propulsion sector, as well as about the future industrial establishment.

A mixed activity between boat building and hydrogen propulsion

The company A Sea Venture Yachting was officially born in 2020, launched by Benjamin and Pascal Canler. The founders, a young graduate for one and a consultant specializing in industry 4.0 for the other, are building together a family and professional project in boating. "This is a father-son project. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and we are both passionate about sailing, but as I say, the heart is in the sailing, but the business is in the engine" explains the young Benjamin Canler to explain the setting up of a shipyard around the motor catamaran.

The leader counts on 3 pillars to anchor their company in the boating landscape: "There are 3 main sectors in the project:

  • The Seavy boat brand, with classic or electric inboard or outboard motor catamarans. The first one is an 11 meters. A smaller and a larger one are to come.
  • ASV Innovation, around clean propulsion and hydrogen, primarily for professionals for the moment, in the absence of a refueling network. There are several projects at different times, first integrating hydrogen fuel cells, then in the longer term developing hydrogen combustion and dual-fuel.
  • Finally, the shipyard for the manufacture of our boats, but also as an assembler for other brands that would like to assemble in France and not in Poland or Portugal, without wanting or being able to set up their own shipyard"

A modern boat production tool in Canet-en-Roussillon

Currently installed in small premises in Canet-en-Roussillon, A Sea Venture Yachting has already secured the possibility of a large-scale industrial tool. "For the moment, we have an office and a small shed of 200 m² for about a year and a half. But a 8800 m² plot of land has been allocated to us in the Canet-en-Roussillon nautical center, on which we should quickly file a building permit. It is planned to have 1800 m² dedicated to the production of the composite, the carpentry, the plumbing and the complete assembly of the boat, and 230 m² of offices. There is a possibility of expansion. The production rate can be around 20 boats per year. We will be able to assemble boats up to 53 feet", Benjamin Canler is pleased to say.

Attracting boaters for 2022

The first Seavy 11 is expected for the summer of 2022. A Sea Venture Yachting is essentially targeting a clientele of private yachtsmen, while also proposing a version of boats dedicated to cruising for luxury hotels or VIP cruising. "The objective is to present the first boat at the 2022 Grande Motte International Multihull Boat Show. Pre-sales have been opened and 3 boats can be delivered for the summer of 2022 if all goes well" concludes the boss of A Sea Venture Yachting.
