CN Franck Roy : Legal redress to keep the sea going until the shows

Nice Morgann from Franck Roy shipyard

The Franck Roy shipyard has been placed in receivership. Its manager, Romuald Tuffery, explains the context of this decision and the projects implemented to get out of the procedure as soon as possible.

CN Franck Roy in receivership

The shipyard Franck Roy, specialist in neo-traditional pleasure boats, has been placed in receivership on June 02, 2021. The company, which employs 8 people, including 2 work-study students, had been bought from its founder, Franck Roy in November 2019 by entrepreneur Romuald Tuffery, who also heads the IT company WestInfo. The manager explains that he wanted to be proactive in his decision. "The will is to protect the company and the employees and to avoid doing it too late and to arrive at a direct liquidation. I had a lot of support and accompaniment for these decisions, in particular by the Entreprendre network of which I was a laureate" he explains.

A complex 2020 for a young company

If the year 2020 was complex for many companies, it proved even more difficult for the young company created for the takeover. "I took over the yard shortly before the crisis began, taking over the business with a new company. Having less than a year, we had no state aid for Covid-19. There was little order book. The 1st show I did, Nautic 2019, was already disrupted by the yellow vests. With Covid blocking all events, we only did one other show in Germany this summer. Not having an established dealer network, it was harder for us to do without trade shows than others. In the end, the objective was 4 boats over the year and we only did 1 and a half" summarizes Romuald Tuffery.

Find a financial partner to continue the development work

Despite this complex picture, the manager is already outlining the steps to be taken to get the Franck Roy shipyard out of this situation. "The idea of this receivership is to have some breathing space and to give ourselves a few months to win orders. This will allow us to hold on until the boat shows in September-October 2021. I would like to find some financial partners to continue the work started, because we didn't spend a year and a half doing nothing! The dealer network is being built. We are also going to present a range of motorboats on which we have been working for a year and a half. I think it is a market that can help us. Everyone has the right to have a nice boat, also with a motor!" concludes the boss of CN Franck Roy.
