Seatronic doubles the surface of its premises in Saint-Malo
Seatronic, a company specializing in marine electricity and on-board computer systems, has been located on the quays of Saint-Malo, at the foot of the ramparts, since its creation in 2006. It will soon leave its 280 m² buildings on the edge of the port for 600 m² premises in the Atalante business park. "We need space, both for the production of our hydrogen generators, which are off to a good start, and for our solar panels, as well as for storage. The business with professionals is developing well, with regular and larger volumes. So we need to be able to have stock" explains Géraldine Labruyère, commercial within Seatronic.
Hydrogenerator and solar panel brands in full development
Seatronic's business is driven by the sale of its own products, which represent 70% of sales. The remaining 30% are made in distribution of products such as the Newmax battery ranges, Sterling chargers and energy management accessories or Solara solar panels. The study of Seatronic hydrogenerators, assembled in Saint-Malo, began in 2016. After several years of testing, marketing began in 2020. "We have good feedback and we are starting to produce more. We're working on a new, smaller propeller to fit on larger boats. The current model is limited to stop producing at 9.5 knots, which limits it to 10 to 12 meter sailboats. This will also allow us to open up to new markets, particularly catamarans," says Géraldine Labruyère.
Sunpower's solar panels, also customized in Saint-Malo, and Optimum Power's lithium batteries are winning over yachtsmen and professionals. The shipyard has signed an OEM agreement with the Marsaudon shipyard for the installation of 375W panels on the new ORC 57.
Recruiting employees and installation partners on the coast
The company realizes 80% of its activity in BtoB. "We want to go to 100%, except for what can be done through the website. We generally refer customers to our partner installers. We are in the process of completing it on the Aquitaine coast and the Nice region" specifies Seatronic's sales representative.
To face its growth, the company, which currently has 4 employees, wishes to hire. "Unfortunately, it is not easy to find people who are willing to work and have some knowledge of electricity," she concludes.
