Lithium batteries: efficient and affordable storage
Ecoterre Energie Verte, a member of the German Bosswerk group, distributes in France the Liontron brand of lithium batteries, built and developed in Germany by another subsidiary of the group. Based on LiFePo4 technology, they allow for efficient energy storage on board boats while keeping weight down. "It is both efficient because lithium batteries can be discharged to 90% against 50% for conventional lead batteries and also economical because we can replace 2 lead batteries of 100 Ah by a single lithium battery of 100Ah thanks to this" explains Ahmed Boucif, sales representative of Ecoterre Energie Verte.
A wide range with integrated BMS
Liontron batteries are available in 12V, 24V and 48V. The models can store from 10 to 200 Ah. They all have an integrated BMS (Battery Management System) for maximum safety. In the event of a problem with a battery, it can be isolated from the rest of the fleet. "We can also monitor our battery fleet via Bluetooth using an application that allows us to check data such as charging, voltage or battery heat," explains Ahmed Boucif.
Removable batteries adapted to marine constraints
Liontron's battery construction process does not involve welding, allowing batteries to be disassembled. This allows the brand to repair batteries and limit their environmental impact by replacing only defective parts in its German factory. Advertised as having a 20-year lifespan, Ecoterre is committed to a five-year warranty on its batteries.
Acrtic batteries are designed to operate at temperatures as low as -30°C. Also available as an option on the rest of the range, this feature allows for use in hostile marine environments.
The "under-seat" battery series developed by Liontron for motor homes will also find a place on board pleasure boats. The low height of the batteries allows them to fit into tight spaces on the boat and to meet the layout requirements of boat builders.
