Fairline Yachts gets organized in the face of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic
British high-end powerboat builder Fairline Yachts has announced significant losses in 2019, reaching £11.7 million. As a result, plans to move into 70- to 100-foot units have been put on hold to focus on its core 30- to 70-foot market. An envelope of £26m has been secured to deal with commercial uncertainties related to Brexit and the pandemic for the shipyard.
Ayro wins the BPGO innovation award
Ayro, a company created to develop and market the OceanWings sail propulsion concept initiated by the naval architecture firm VPLP, has been awarded the Ocean Innovation Trophy by Banque Populaire du Grand Ouest. The OceanWings should see its first application on the future sailing cargo ship designed to transport Ariane rockets.
Bénéteau publishes its gender equality index
The Bénéteau Group has published the figures for its French subsidiaries in their gender equality index, designed to identify unjustified pay gaps between the sexes. While the boat building subsidiary SPBI has improved by 10 points, from 79 to 89/100, Construction Navale de Bordeaux has stagnated at 77/100.
Finistère increases the budget of its Nautisme pour tous plan
The department of Finistère announced the addition of 200 000euros to the budget of the operation Nautisme pour tous, financed up to 115 000euros by the Region Brittany. Genting HK owner invests in Grand Banks Yachts
Lim Kok Thay, the Hong Kong owner of Genting HK, which builds liners and yachts in Germany at its Lloyd Werft shipyard, is investing in the yachting industry. He has acquired a 24.68% stake in the famous American motor yacht brand Grand Banks Yachts.
