Seacork cork coating: The leader wants to prepare the transmission

Dominique Radier, founder of the cork coating specialist for the nautical industry, presents his company in more detail and its growth potential. A situation that he considers promising at a time when he wishes to prepare his retirement and is looking for a buyer.

A historic cork player in the nautical industry

Seacork is a pioneer in the introduction of cork on board pleasure boats. First as a craftsman, then as a classical company, Dominique Radier, has been promoting the material since 1983. Since 2012, the company named Aegir Cork Group has been marketing cork deck coverings, but also mixes and raw materials for the application of sprayed cork. "I will be 64 years old at the end of the year, so I'm thinking of retiring and handing over. The time to be able to make the handover smoothly is the time to start looking for a buyer. It is also necessary to pass on the technical knowledge of the product and for the new owner to be able to train the yards in its use" explains the creator of the Seacork.

Growth potential in boating and beyond

Dominique Rabier believes that the potential for development by a buyer is significant, both because of the context of ecological transition and unexplored commercial aspects. "I have technical skills, as an original carpenter, but no marketing or commercial know-how. There is a significant capacity for development and to multiply turnover for a buyer with a good commercial background. On the cork deck covering, Seacork is almost alone. Moreover, I have not worked much on the bathroom or exterior home cladding markets. Projected cork van interiors are on the rise. Finally, the mentality of the customers is changing favourably for our materials" justifies Dominique Radier.

Aegir Cork's business, which employs one employee, is international. "We make 40-50% of our turnover from exports, in Europe, the United States, Canada and a little bit in Asia. But also in South Africa. I also have requests in Dubai. It's increasingly popular in countries where it's hot because our flooring is one of the only ones that doesn't burn your feet," says the designer of the Seacork.
