Renovation of the port's shops and creation of Lab'Océan
The Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan has announced a series of investments in the port of La Trinité sur Mer. Its director, Marc de Ghellinck, gives us details of the stakes and the timetable. "The guideline to be underlined is the will to continue to invest in the tool to keep a high level of quality, pushed in this direction by the department."
Ashore, the entire north zone shopping centre will be rebuilt. The filing of the building permit for these premises, which will accommodate the boat fitters and nautical professionals, is scheduled for the beginning of February 2021. "The work should begin after the 2021 season and last about fifteen months. The merchants will be relocated to a temporary village", the port director explains.
The manager has also recovered the former Ifremer premises, the management of which has been transferred to him by the department. "We want to make it into a company hotel dedicated to the sea, called Lab'Océan, which will include a coworking area and meeting rooms. The management and the essential animation of this type of place will be entrusted to an external structure after a call for candidates. This should be operational in 2023," explains Marc de Ghellinck.
Work on port handling and protection of the water body
The work will also cover port infrastructure. On the South Pole, the raising of the median and the wave-barrier wall will improve protection of the body of water. The shifting of the slipway will increase the boat storage capacity of the Société Nautique de la Trinité sur Mer (SNT).
On the North Pole of the port, the quay will also be enlarged and the handling dock will be widened. "We're going to go from 4.80 m wide to 6 m wide, with a new travelift. The jib crane platform will be developed, with a second jib crane if the need arises. The recovery of water from the fairing will be revised to be more efficient and to be at the same level as at the Crouesty. A place dedicated to black water will be accessible free of charge 24 hours a day for all boaters. We are on a sensitive oyster basin and are aware of the importance of the subject. For these files, the work could begin in the fall of 2022 and last 2 years" indicates the director.
Developing the port ashore
The port of La Trinité-sur-Mer is also in the process of finalizing the acquisition of land in Kermarquer, 2 km from the water. "This nautical platform in Kermarquer will make it possible to develop the shore port offer by increasing the capacity of the port by 250 boats on land. In the summer, the site will be able to serve as an offloading car park for our customers who go sailing, with a shuttle service. This last site could be operational at the beginning of the second half of 2022" concludes Marc de Ghellinck
