A new distributor for MC Technologies brands
While the announcement of the loss of the distribution of the Navico group brands (Lowrance, Simrad and B&G) by MC Technologies was surprising at the end of 2020, observers of the sector were wondering about the future of the Breton SME and the other brands of nautical equipment that it distributed. It is finally another Finisterian distributor who takes over the torch. The MC Marine, Standard Horizon, Nasa Marine, AMEC, Shipmodul, Shakespeare and GME brands join Navicom's portfolio as of February 2, 2021.
Ensuring continuity for professionals
The first challenge for Christophe Soares, President of Navicom, was to enable yachting professionals to continue sourcing equipment for boats. "The important message is that all these brands are now available from Navicom. They have not gone into the wilderness," he reassured. They will now be offered by Navicom's sales team, joined by two former MC Technologies employees: Bertrand Philippe, in charge of IT at MC Marine and Florian Laché in charge of purchasing. Part of MC Technologies' sales staff had joined Kent Marine since the distributor of the Alliance Marine group took over the Navico card in January 2021.
Opening up of Navicom to on-board computing and reinforcement in marine electronics
The new products also open up development prospects for Navicom in yachting sectors where it is absent. The company will also be returning to markets that it occupied in the past. "We didn't have IT before and MC Marine is a big player in the market. With NASA, we're coming back into onboard instrumentation, an area we hadn't been in since Nexus was bought out by Garmin. With Standard Horizon, we have a brand of VHF in pure distribution, which is our core business. It complements the Navicom VHFs," says Navicom's president.
