Plan Futura Goiot 4.0
Nantes-based Goiot Systems, a historic player in the nautical sector, specialising in fittings, has announced a modernisation plan for 2021 and 2022. Named Futura Goiot 4.0, the operation, with a budget of 2M euros, covers the industrial tool, the creation of new products and the redesign of part of the existing range. " These are important and structuring decisions to regain a place in Goiot's historic markets. We want to be a major player in the yachting industry producing in France. There are leaders in France in boat building, why wouldn't there be any in equipment? ", explains Arnaud Leblais, Goiot's sales director.
Investing in machinery and new skills
The renewal of the Goiot fleet had already begun since Aluminium Ferri took over the company in 2014. It will accelerate in 2021 and 2022. The first year will see the arrival of a multi-axis numerically controlled machining lathe, followed in the second year by a robotic paint island, a high-speed electric bending line, a 5-axis machining centre and additive metal fabrication equipment. " A benchmark of additive manufacturing technologies [Editor's note: 3D printing] in aluminium is planned for 2021. Today, we subcontract screen printing, but we are determined to integrate this skill with the appropriate machines ", says Arnaud Leblais. " Hiring will be necessary depending on the machines. "
At the same time, the in-house aluminium smelting activity should be gradually abandoned in favour of subcontracting with shell casting .
New fittings and re-engineering
The investment will also cover the proposed equipment for the boats. New ranges are announced in 2021 and 2022. " For the Magic Flush range, which will replace Opal Flush, after its presentation at METS 2021, we started from the white sheet. The aim is to gain significant market share in this sector of bridge panels ", explains Arnaud Lelais. The Luxair portholes should see their panel enlarged. Sport'Al deck equipment, such as anodised wheel bars, stanchions and balconies, should see their range extended.
At the same time, a re-engineering of existing products is being carried out. " Some casting elements will be converted into bent, machined or additive aluminium castings. This may allow us to gain in competitiveness and weight. We have already started with the bar sectors that we are going to convert to mechanically welded. Weight is an issue, especially in the era of the electric boat. You don't see stainless steel in cars any more, everything is made of composite and aluminium "concludes an optimistic Goiot Systems sales manager.
